Whether you are entertaining friends or family, or you just want small bites for yourself on a night in, here are some great appetizers for you to share.

These recipes are great for brunch, whether its for a special day or just a weekend at home. Make them for breakfast, lunch, or anything in between.

In our house everyone absolutely loves pasta and pizza. Most of my favorite comfort food recipes are Italian, and include some sort of meat, pasta and cheese combination. If only we could eat it every day……

Chicken is one of the most versatile meats there is, and it is one of the healthiest also. But chicken can also be boring so I’ve tried to find recipes for us that make it seem a little more fancy and full of flavor, but are not too complex to make. I hope you agree.

I have to admit I am a huge lover of beef. We have “steak night” almost every Saturday night with a nice red wine. These recipes elevate your basic steak or roast, and also include several pork and ground meat dishes for variety. Lean pork can be a great healthier option when you are tired of chicken.

Here are some recipes that helped me begin to love seafood. I grew up on the east coast of Canada, where there is amazingly fresh seafood including lobster right out of the ocean, but I never would eat it until I was in my thirties. Now I  am trying to expand my palate and eat seafood at least once a week at home. The family loves it.

These recipes include everything from vegetable side dishes, to various potato recipes, rice, pasta and beans. I, like many others, struggle to find new and interesting ways to make vegetables and side dishes, so hopefully this will give  you new some ideas.

I have always loved making quick breads for desserts, brunch, breakfast and snacks, as generally they are more savory than sweet, which I prefer. I was late to the yeast bread making world, but have found some recipes that seem to always work, even though this is not my area of expertise. These recipes, when you discover a good feel for making yeast bread, are no-fail. They also make the house smell incredible.

Who doesn’t love dessert? With a house full of growing boys for many years, having cake or cookies around was essential. My husband and I prefer more savory desserts and the boys prefer more sweet and chocolatey desserts so we have collected a wide range of favorite dessert recipes that are great for home, having guests, or to take as a gift to your next gathering. Enjoy!

Sometimes we just have to do it (unfortunately)…..we have to cut the carbs and sugar in order to lose some weight and get healthier again. These recipes are adaptations of other favorites, or are new ones that have very little net carbohydrates and sugar per serving.

Nothing elevates a meal like the addition of a great sauce. These sauces are used to top meats or vegetables, or are dipping sauces to go along side of the meal. While they add a bit of time, they are often what makes the meal special.

We are primarily a wine family, with the addition of my husband’s love of scotch and bourbon. We have wine with most dinners and enjoy a cocktail or spirit here and there on a weekend or date night. Whether its a themed cocktail for a party , or a speciality coffee after a nice dinner, here are a few that we like.
